August is here—and so is your invitation to slow down, look within, and fall back in love with yourself. Not the curated version of you on social media. Not the version who checks off every to-do list. But the real you—soulful, powerful, healing, and whole.
As Black women, we give our energy to everyone—our families, our jobs, our churches, our communities—often leaving ourselves last on the list. This August, Real Women Atlanta invites you to flip the script and take on a Self-Love Challenge: 31 days of intentional actions to reconnect with the woman in the mirror.
Why Self-Love Matters Now More Than Ever
Self-love isn’t vanity. It’s not selfishness. It’s sacred care. It’s what fuels your confidence, protects your peace, and honors the woman God created you to be.
Too many of us are running on fumes—emotionally, spiritually, physically—because we’ve been conditioned to pour without being poured into. But sis, you can’t keep showing up for others if you’re constantly abandoning yourself.
This challenge isn’t about bubble baths and beauty masks (though those are welcome). It’s about real, transformational love—the kind that:
-
-
- Sets boundaries without guilt
- Speaks truth to your fears
- Chooses rest over burnout
- Forgives you for being human
- Celebrates your growth, not just your grind
-
The 31-Day Self-Love Challenge: Daily Prompts for August
Each day, choose yourself on purpose. Here’s your guide:
-
- Write down 10 things you love about yourself
- Say “no” to something that drains you
- Start a gratitude journal—list 3 things daily
- Take yourself on a solo date (yes, dress up!)
- Unfollow anyone on social media who makes you feel “less than”
- Forgive yourself for one past mistake
- Wear something that makes you feel beautiful
- Turn off your phone for 2 hours and be present
- Speak 3 positive affirmations into the mirror
- Dance in your living room to your favorite song
- Drink water like your glow depends on it (because it does)
- Compliment another Black woman (spread love!)
-
- Watch a documentary or film that inspires you
- Take a walk and listen to a soul-nourishing podcast
- Declutter one space in your home—it clears your mind, too
- Write a love letter to your younger self
- Treat yourself without guilt
- Sit in silence and just breathe for 10 minutes
- Make a vision board or journal your goals
- Say out loud: “I am worthy of love, rest, joy, and abundance.”
- Try something new—big or small
- Do a digital detox for 24 hours
- Surround yourself with people who uplift you
- Spend time with God in prayer or meditation
- Speak up about something that matters to you
- Write down your wins from the past 6 months
- Give yourself permission to rest without doing anything “productive”
- Eat something that fuels your body and honors your health
- Buy yourself flowers—just because
- Let go of one limiting belief that no longer serves you
- Celebrate how far you’ve come—then plan where you’re headed
How to Stay Accountable
- Share your journey on social media with the hashtag #SelfLoveAugustRWA
- Invite your sister circle or tribe to join you
- Use a journal or digital tracker to reflect daily
- Don’t aim for perfection—aim for presence
Because You Are Worth This, Sis
Let August be your month of awakening—a time when you stop waiting to be loved the way you deserve and start loving yourself that way, right now.
Your joy is sacred. Your peace is non-negotiable. Your body, your voice, your brilliance—they are gifts.
This challenge isn’t just about 31 days. It’s about building a lifestyle where self-love is the foundation, not an afterthought.
So here’s to you.
All of you.
May this be the month you come home to your own heart.Remember: The love you’ve been waiting for… is already within you.
