Our client wanted to update the dated brown cabinets and create an open space. She wanted a functional kitchen with a dining space.
Our first step was to create a new layout. Due to structural concerns, we could not completely remove the entire wall between the kitchen and the family room. We opted to create a partial opening to give an open feeling. A new island was formed and redirected to create a better flow and provide space for a dining space.
BEFORE
Since the client had lived with brown cabinets before, she wanted a white kitchen. We selected white shaker cabinets and accented the space with a soft gray paint color for the walls. A dark floor was chosen for contrast. We added an accent of blue to the window treatments and accessories. The new table, combined with the counter stools at the new island, provides ample seating, as requested by the client. Gold hardware for the cabinets and light fixtures gives just the right bling!
