“Life is what you make it, so make the best of it”
When one thinks about poise, class, professionalism, perseverance and talent, there is only one young lady who comes to mind, and her name is, Shondrae’ D. Knight. Ms. Knight holds a Bachelor of Art in English from Kennesaw State University, a MBA/ HRM, and a Masters of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. Shondrae’s educational experience includes her working with children on the Autism Spectrum, Asperger’s Syndrome and ADHD, and ADD. In addition to her love for education, she has over sixteen years of Property Management experience where she worked as a Training Director. Shondrae’ facilitated Adult Education training and she created curriculum for all areas of training and development. In 2015, she left the field of Property Management, and started a tutoring company. Shondrae’ began working as a Reading Coach and ELA tutor. She was also hired by the Dekalb Youth Leadership Academy as a Public Speaking Instructor for their summer program.
Shondrae’s passion for educating children was enough fuel for her to return to the classroom full time. In the fall of 2015, Ms. Knight was hired to teach at a Private Alternative school where she taught grades 9-12 English Language Arts, Writing and Critical Thinking. While she was teaching at the private school, Shondrae’ made a profound impact on the students, teachers, parents, and the surrounding community. Shondrae used her natural talent for networking, communicating and education to connect with students that would have otherwise dropped out of school. Shondrae gave time, materials, and other resources to ensure the success of each child she taught. Ms. Knight organized the school’s first ever college tour, SAT workshop, Internship/Mentorship program, she exposed the students to the non-profit world, and she organized and completed the first back to school family night. In 2018, her drive and dedication earned her a promotion as the new Director of Choice Educational Academy. Not only is she the Director, she is part owner, and she still finds the time to teach three upper level English Literature and Writing courses, and tutor. The teachers, parents and students respect her, appreciate her, and love her dedication to the profession.
